McKenna’s latest Holiday masterpiece was introduced in the Fall of 2008. It is one her largest quilts and she shared with me that it is one of her all time favorites. The finished eight block quilt will measure 56 1/2 by 63 inches.  Seven of the blocks and the pieced border have individual embellishment packages to add sparkle and character to the designs.  She selected E221 Glacier, an adorable penguin chop, for the backing.  Be sure to go to PineNeedles.com to print a copy of the corrections if you received one of the first printing of patterns. (It happens.)
As always, Peggy Szasz did a superb job on our samples. Here are some close up photos of them.
McKenna was inspired to create this design by her lastest fabric line for Hoffman called “Willow”. As with all her creations (well, quilts in general) photographs do not do justice to the fabrics or the elements of the design. When our sample arrived, my staff and I were more excited than than we had expected. Peggy Szasz always does a superb job for us.  Her work on this quilt is outstanding! I just had to share some of the close ups and a photo of the back of the quilt, too.Â
At last! We have begged for this for years. Hoffman is producing a set of cards with two by two inch swatches of all the available colors. We are making them available to Batiks Plus patrons- while they last.  Everyone loves them! It’s over 18 inches long and very easy to use.  (Some Guilds are sharing.) How else would you find a terrific green like Belize or the perfect blue like Ceylon.
The 1895 Hoffman Bali Handpaints are a series of fabrics which are used like solids by quilters and designers. They are hand-dyed on a high thread count 100 percent cotton lawn. BATIKS PLUS offers the complete collection in yards (our special 40 inch cuts), half yards (20 inches) and fat quarters.  We are committed to keeping them in stock. They are perfect backings for you quilts, too. You will always find the perfect color.
180 new Hoffman Bali Chops have just arrived. Some of the newest colors are Acorn, Aurora, Ceylon, Cinnabar, Crocus, Green Tea, and Merlot. Hoffman designs are always great, but this time it is the colors that make the line outstanding. You can always search the colorway by typing the name in our search box. That is the best way to see all the designs in one colorway.
Just for fun, I have scanned the Hoffman headers for you so that you can see the way the incredible designers put the fabrics together. There are 32 combinations so keep scrolling down. Please let me know how you like this.
