BATIKS PLUS is a small family owned business started in 2003 by Cookie Martyn when she was living on her Farm south of Warrenton, Missouri.  It came from a passion for Hoffman Bali batik fabrics – the best in the world!   Soon the barn was bulging with batik fabrics!  Cookie’s youngest Son, Geoff, came home from Montana and she took advantage of his degree in business!  Geoff has contributed his vast knowledge of technology.  In 2007 he moved Mom and the 8000 bolts of fabric to a warehouse in Olivette, Missouri, a suburb of Saint Louis.  The customer base continues to grow because of their dedication to customer service.  Visitors are welcome so call for an appointment.

During the summer of 2003, Cookie met with the area representative for Hoffman California Fabrics.  While he was showing her the fabrics, a brochure for a quilt called “A JOURNEY TO LIGHT” fell out onto the floor.   Cookie picked it up as she asked “What’s this, Jerry?”  He answered “Oh, it’s just a girl who only uses Hoffman batiks in her designs.”  JUST!  She went straight back to the farm and called Pine Needles!  The conversation lasted for almost an hour.  It seemed to her that quilters would want the use only the original fabrics to make the quilts and that is how it all started!  Batiks Plus has original fabric collections for over 400 McKenna Ryan designs.  Cookie thinks McKenna is a genius – especially with color.  She is also a lovely young woman in every way.
